Nomura earns 629 million at the end of his fiscal year

Nomura, a Japanese investment and brokerage firm, recorded net attributable profit of 92,786 million yen (629 million euros) in its fiscal year as a whole, ending in March, which represents a 35.1% drop with respect to the result accounted for by the entity one year earlier.

The President and CEO of Nomura, Kentaro Okudahighlighted in the presentation of the annual results of the brokerage firm the adverse impact related to the volatility of the markets as a consequence of the “increased geopolitical risks, inflation and the tightening of the central bank’s monetary policy”.

The net income of the financial company decreased by 2.1% during the fiscal year, to stand at 1.33 trillion yen (9,010 million euros).

The commissions passed on to the group an income of 279,857 million yen (1,896 million euros), 15.8% less, while the fees for asset and portfolio management increased by 0.6%, up to 271,684 million yen (1,841 millions of euros). The investment banking area generated a turnover of 113,208 million yen (767 million euros), 24.3% less.

Between January and March 2023, the fourth quarter of Nomura’s financial year, the Japanese firm recorded an attributable net profit of 7,375 million yen (50 million euros), 76.2% below the result recorded a year earlier, while that the net turnover decreased by 4.6%, up to 324,933 million yen (2,202 million euros).
