Alappuzha: A sub-inspector of Nooranad police station was hacked to death. Sub-inspector Arun Kumar was hacked to death when he got out of the jeep. The SI was attacked by Sugathan, a native of Nooranad, who was called in connection with a complaint received at the police station in the afternoon.
During the police patrol, the accused, who was following the bike, was arrested by the SI. When he got out, he was attacked with a sword kept on the bike. He was injured while trying to raise his hand to avoid being cut. He is being treated at a private hospital with seven stitches.
Defendant said the hacking was done with the intent to kill the SI. Defendant Sugathan had gone to his brother’s house drunk and called Teri and tried to beat his brother’s wife. The woman then went to the station with the complaint.
The accused was released from the police station by the SI. Was called to the station. After being warned not to cause any more problems, he was directed to reach the station on Tuesday after getting drunk. But he returned after being told he would not come and would try if necessary. This was followed by a deliberate attack.
