Nordea earned 1,345 million euros in the third quarter

The Scandinavian bank Nordea based in Finland, obtained a net attributable profit during the third quarter of 1,345 million euros, which represents an increase of 34.4%, according to the accounts of the financial institution.

The bank’s income between July and September increased by 19.4%, to 2,952 million euros. Specifically, net interest income grew by 35.7%, to 1,909 million euros, while those from commissions and fees stood at 742 million euros, 4.3% less. To these amounts we would have to add another 225 million euros for asset valuation and 63 million euros for insurance.

Later, Nordea incurred operating expenses during the quarter of 1,194 million euros, which translated into an increase of 5.7%.

On its side, the ratio of capital CET1 of Nordea, which measures the proportion of higher quality assets, increased to 16.3%, three tenths more than in the second quarter and half a point more than at the end of the third tranche of 2022.

From January to September, the bank obtained a net profit attributable amount of 3,828 million euros, 31.4% more than in the same period twelve months ago, while its turnover reached 8,828 million euros, 19.9% ​​more.

“The third quarter, once again, has been marked by macroeconomic and geopolitical fragility,” acknowledged the president and CEO of Nordea, Frank Vang-Jensen, who added that, despite such circumstances, the bank has recorded a “high-quality revenue growth.”
