This week, representatives from Youth 2030 Movement and Norsjö municipality hosted an event where young people picked up politicians and municipal employees in their cars and drove them to Folkets hus, “Medan”, for a pizza dinner and discussions about important issues in the community. The event aimed to involve young people in social development for a fair and attractive democracy. Municipal councilor Mikael Lindfors (S) expressed surprise at the positivity and enthusiasm of the young people, and felt that they now knew how to move forward with their ideas. One of the dream projects discussed was the creation of a garage for young people to work on projects and hang out without disturbing others. The event was documented in a video clip, featuring the thoughts and perspectives of the young participants.
This week, the young people picked up politicians and municipal employees in Norsjö in their epos and drove them to Folkets hus, “Medan”, to then sit down and eat pizza and talk about what is important to young people in the municipality.
– The young people are more positive than I thought. Now they know which way to go when they have ideas. And now they know who I am, says municipal councilor Mikael Lindfors (S).
The event was organized by the organization Youth 2030 Movement together with Norsjö municipality, with the aim that social development should include young people for a fairer democracy and a more attractive place to live.
The dream: A garage where you can screw
Together they sketched out a dream project – a garage where the young people can screw and have a place to hang out without disturbing others.
– People have probably come when you were standing in a parking lot and said that we should turn down the sound. But then it’s just a matter of leaving, then we’ll be back, says participant Axel Sjölin.
