The Norwegian relay team is set – Jæger not included

Josefine Tomine Eriksen, Astri Lakeri Ertzgaard, Elisabeth Slettum, and Amalie Iuel make up the Norwegian Olympic team for the 4×400 meters.

The four will try to get Norway to an Olympic final when the heats begin on Friday at 10:40 AM.

Henriette Jæger would have been a certain pick for the team, but she is competing in the 400-meter final that same evening.

Line Kloster has been left out, as she herself expected after failing to advance from either the heats or the semi-finals in the 400-meter hurdles earlier in the Olympics.

Eriksen, Ertzgaard, Slettum, and Iuel also comprised the team in the 4×400 meters at the European Championships in Rome in June. They ran a Norwegian record time of 3:25.99 in the heats.

At that point, they were just six hundredths of a second behind the Netherlands, who secured the last spot in the final. The Dutch went on to win the European Championship gold in the final after substituting three of their four runners from the heats.

The Olympic final for the event is on Saturday at 9:14 PM, and Jæger could potentially be back on the team again.

All athletics during the Olympics will be broadcast live on NRK.
