GOMA – The city of Goma, capital of the province of North Kivu, hosts the workshop for the development of the Provincial Operational Plan of the P-DDRCS of North Kivu since this Monday, July 17, 23. It is the military governor of North Kivu, Lieutenant-General Constant Ndima Kongba who proceeded to the official launch of this workshop in the presence of the delegate of the Presidency of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the partners of the Disarmament, Demobilization, Community Recovery and Stabilization (DRCS).
Several delegates from civil society, women’s organizations, opinion makers, administrative officials, members of organizations of the United Nations system took part in this activity. During four days, the participants in this workshop will reflect on the development of a plan containing the activities that will be carried out as part of the materialization of the P-DDRCS. It will also be a question of reflecting on the bankable projects that will be carried out to reassure the reintegration of combatants into their communities.
For this first day, the National Coordinator of the P-DDRCS in his speech circumscribed the circumstances by which the P-DDRCS had been set up. He reviewed the implementation of the Program from its installation until today. He did not fail to pay tribute to the Head of State and Supreme Commander of the armed forces and the police for his tireless efforts in the search for the pacification of eastern DRC. For his part, Jacquemin Shabani, Senior Adviser to the Head of State in charge of political issues and the electoral process, did not insist on the fact that everyone has a role to play for the success of this process for which the Head of State spares no effort for its materialization.
The representative of the Head of the Monusco office also hoped that this workshop would enable the effectiveness of the activities of the P-DDRCS, a real guarantee of the pacification of the Province of North Kivu in particular and of the entire eastern part of the DRC in general.
For the first day, several presentations were presented before starting this Tuesday, July 18, 2023 the work in crossroads according to the themes selected for this workshop.
