GOMA – The force vive civil society of North Kivu recommends to the President of the Republic to fix the opinion on the exact mandate of the EAC forces. In a press release of Wednesday April 19, this structure denounces the harassment made by the M23 rebels, who are supported by Rwanda.

“Instead of withdrawing completely, the M23-RDF fighters are doing so partially and the troops that are withdrawn from certain corners will reinforce the positions of Kibumba, Mabenga and Bwiza in anticipation of other attacks”, explained the civil society in his statement.

While the EAC troops are supposed to occupy all the spaces that were under the control of the M23-RDF, the harassment of the population by the rebels and their allies is observed with the knowledge and sight of the EAC force. in these areas. This leads civil society to say that these two parties coexist.

“Everything leads to the conclusion that it is a question of cohabitation or co-management between the EAC force and the M23-RDF and, moreover, to serve as a shield for the latter against any form of attack”, emphasizes civil society.

She recommended the government to shed some light on the exact contract of the EAC force to smash the rumours. “Thus the civil society of North Kivu recommends to the President of the Republic and to the Prime Minister to fix the Congolese opinion on the exact mandate of the EAC force to dispel all the rumors and the propagation of false information on the latter. “.

Note that the EAC force is already in Kibumba, Rumangabo, Bunagana, Kiwanja, Kilolirwe, Kitshanga, Mweso and Mushaki. Thus the visibility of M23-RDF fighters in these areas accentuates the population’s distrust of this supposedly neutral force.
