BUTEMBO – The attacks by terrorists of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) currently recorded in the district of Kasese, on Ugandan territory, convey two messages addressed to the Congolese and Ugandan armies engaged in their hunt in the east of the DRC.

According to Great Lakes journalist, writer and researcher on ADF activism, Nicaise Kibel’Bel Oka, the first message consists of showing their existence both on Ugandan territory and in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The objective is to prove that their leaders are alive, contrary to reports of their neutralization by the FARDC-UPDF coalition. The second message is to get the Ugandan army to stop supporting the FARDC within the framework of joint operations.

During an interview given to CongoForum on Wednesday October 18, 2023, Mr. Kibel’Bel Oka proposed to the two military forces to operate separately in their respective countries by strengthening the exchange of intelligence. “This means that it is time to stop pooling and exchange information so that each army remains on its soil. Because, now that the ADF is striking Uganda, the FARDC will not enter Ugandan territory to rescue the UPDF. It is now a transnational phenomenon,” analyzes the journalist and researcher.

The latest ADF attack in Kasese district was reported on Tuesday October 17, 2023 in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It left 3 dead, including 2 foreign tourists, according to the Ugandan authorities.
