The Office of the President stated this regarding North Korea’s disclosure of its uranium enrichment facility, saying, “We are closely assessing North Korea’s intentions for the disclosure, and observing and analyzing overall trends in North Korea.” Regarding concerns that “the possibility of a nuclear test is increasing ahead of the U.S. presidential election,” a senior official at the Office of the President said, “It is not easy to predict with certainty the timing of the nuclear test, as it can vary depending on the decision of the North Korean leadership,” and “South Korean and U.S. intelligence authorities are closely tracking it, keeping all possibilities in mind.”

The Japanese government also condemned North Korea’s disclosure of its uranium enrichment facility.
