Following reports that North Korea is also pushing for new nuclear weapons tests, Kim announced at a meeting chaired by Kim Jong Un that he would double arms production. Strict security environment is said to be the reason for this decision. However, various countries are watching for signs of increasing nuclear weapons production in North Korea.
Kim also said that the proliferation of his weapons was a sovereign right for self-defense. He further added that this was a task being carried out by the Armed Forces and military scientists. The press release did not mention any specific goals or plans for a nuclear test, including a nuclear explosion.
The main issues of the country were also reviewed at the Central Committee meeting of the ruling Communist Party, which last month officially declared the outbreak of Govt-19 epidemic in the country.

It is noteworthy that during the three-day meeting that ended on Friday, North Korea did not directly criticize the United States or rival South Korea amid a protracted stalemate in nuclear diplomacy.
Earlier last week, the United States continued to seek high-level talks with North Korea, following reports that it was involved in further testing of nuclear weapons. But the United States has accused North Korea of ignoring it.
It is noteworthy that while US President Joe Biden and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken have repeatedly stated publicly that Washington wants diplomatic talks with North Korea, North Korea is not ready to hold talks.
