It has been confirmed that North Korea has launched a waste balloon again in three days. The Office of the President stated, “We urge an immediate cessation of all provocative acts” regarding North Korea’s repeated actions of floating waste balloons and launching short-range missiles.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on the afternoon of the 18th, “North Korea is once again floating (presumed) trash balloons toward the South,” and “Depending on the wind direction, there is a possibility that the trash balloons will move toward the northern part of Gyeonggi Province and the Seoul area.” They continued, “Citizens should be careful of falling cargo, and if you find a fallen balloon, do not contact it, and report it to the nearest military unit or police.”

North Korea has been continuously sending up waste balloons over the past two weeks, from the 4th to the 8th, the 11th, and the 14th to the 15th of this month. Earlier, it launched several short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs) on the morning of the same day, and on the 12th, it launched the KN-25 super-large multiple rocket launcher. Also, on the 13th, it revealed for the first time its production facility for highly enriched uranium (HEU), a nuclear material.

The Office of the President said that North Korea’s continued provocations would be “strongly suppressed based on the ROK-US alliance and ROK-US-Japan security cooperation.” An official from the Office of the President said, “The government is issuing a stern warning to North Korea about its provocations,” and “The government is closely monitoring North Korea’s provocative movements, maintaining a readiness posture, and preparing for various possibilities of provocations.”
