North Korea’s Failed Spy Satellite Launch Raises Concerns: Acquire Licensing Rights

by time news

North Korea’s second attempt to place a spy satellite in orbit has failed, according to state media. The country has vowed to try again in October after its first attempt in May also ended in failure. North Korea has been seeking to place its first military spy satellite into orbit in order to monitor the activities of US and South Korean troops. The launch prompted an emergency warning in Japan, with residents of the southernmost prefecture of Okinawa being told to take cover indoors. Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno condemned the repeated missile launches and said they posed a threat to regional security. The US military was aware of the launch but declined to offer details. South Korea, Japan, and the US previously condemned North Korea’s May launch as a provocation and a violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
