Tirupur: The Department of Labor has announced that it has started the facility to register the details of North State workers in Tirupur district. In Tirupur district, people from various districts of Tamil Nadu and people from 21 states live. Without legal security awareness and ready to work, people from the northern state are often brought in through middlemen. In such a way, people are not thoroughly investigated and identity documents are not obtained. Criminal background is also not inquired about. Local bodies, including panchayat administrations, do not maintain foreign labor registers.
What to do?
At the time of entering the state, details including Aadhaar of the North State worker should be obtained. In areas like railway stations, the arrival of people from outside the state should be registered with ‘biometric’ verification. In the panchayats, registers of common people should be maintained and the profile of North State workers should be recorded and maintained. Details of factories, houses etc. should also be recorded. Labor details approved by police should be maintained on public website along with details including Aadhaar. The public website should be coordinated at the division, district and state level. Considering the security of employment and residential areas, criminal background should be investigated. In this regard, the public has demanded that revenue department, labor department, police, rural development department should be coordinated and take appropriate measures.

The details are collected on the website https://labour.tn.gov.in/ism/users//login. So far, details of 56,630 laborers have been collected in Tirupur district.
