WHILE, Waspada.co.id – North Sumatra Regional Police together with relevant stakeholders are ready to hold the 2024 Toba Candle Operation which will last for 13 days starting from 21 December 2024 to 2 January 2025.
This operation aims to ensure the safety and comfort of the community during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 celebrations, especially in the face of increased mobility during the long holiday period.
The Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Police Commissioner Hadi Wahyudi, said that Operation Lilin Toba 2024 would involve joint personnel from the National Police, TNI and related agencies, as well as establishing security posts, service posts and integrated posts in strategic locations.
“This operation is a manifestation of the National Police’s commitment to providing a sense of security and comfort for the community in carrying out religious services, traveling and recreation during Christmas and New Year,” he said, Wednesday (18/12).
Apart from focusing on protecting churches, Hadi revealed that the 2024 Toba Candle Operation also includes securing shopping centers, tourist attractions, transportation facilities and locations that are the center of New Year’s Eve crowds.
Traffic engineering such as contra flow and one way will be implemented at points prone to congestion to ensure smooth flow of going home and returning.
“With the security pattern that has become an SOP, we are optimistic that we can manage people’s mobility well during this long holiday period,” he said.
To support the success of this operation, Hadi said that the North Sumatra Police carried out the 2024 Toba Candle Pre-Operation Training in the Tri Brata Hall of the North Sumatra Police Headquarters. This exercise aims to increase personnel readiness to face various potential threats to security and order during operations.
“With security at every strategic point in North Sumatra, Operation Lilin Toba 2024 is proof of the seriousness of the National Police in maintaining security stability amidst increasing community activity,” he concluded. (wool/lvz)
