Heavy Rain Alert: IMD Warns of Rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry

The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rain in the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry due to the Northeast Monsoon. Since the onset of the monsoon on October 21, these regions have been experiencing widespread rain.

The Meteorological Department had previously stated that there is a possibility of moderate rain in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu until December 30. This prediction is due to atmospheric low circulation, strong northeast wind, and favorable conditions for rain in the Indian Ocean region.

According to the latest forecast, 14 districts in Tamil Nadu are expected to receive rain in the next 3 hours. These districts include Chennai, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thenkasi, Thoothukudi, Dindigul, Theni, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, and Pudukottai.

Additionally, the Western Ghats region of Tirunelveli district is likely to experience heavy rain on December 30. As a result, the Tirunelveli District Collector has warned of a possible increase in water levels in the Tamiraparani river, with up to 10,000 feet of water expected tomorrow morning.

Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on the weather warnings as the heavy rain continues to pose a potential risk to the region.
