Northern lights July 2023 opportunities include 17 states

CHICAGO — People in 17 states, including Indiana and Wisconsin, may be able to see the northern lights on Thursday. If it’s on your bucket list, this might be your chance, if you live in many of the states bordering Canada, CNN reported.
The glow is produced by electrons from space that interact with the sun and earth’s magnetic field — the higher the geomagnetic activity, the brighter the aurora.
According to the Space Weather Prediction Center, the northern lights could be visible in Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Maine, Maryland, New York, New Hampshire, Washington, Vermont, Idaho, Oregon, Wyoming, and Indiana. This presents a unique opportunity for residents of these states to witness the beauty of the aurora borealis.
In order to optimize your chances of seeing this natural phenomenon, it is recommended to get away from city lights. The lights can be harder to see if there is a lot of light pollution. So, finding a spot with minimal artificial lighting will greatly enhance the viewing experience.
