Marte Ruud Sandberg has once again been in Spain and topped up her bankroll.
Just two months after she was in Malaga and surpassed one million kroner in tournament winnings in her poker career, she picked up half a million and more early Tuesday morning when she won the €880 NLHE Mystery Bounty in the Campeonato España de Poker (CEP) in Barcelona. CEP is a warm-up for Estrella which is played in conjunction with the European Poker Tour (EPT) at the end of the month.

Prizes for Sandberg
In Mystery Bounty tournaments, part of the buy-in goes to the regular prize pool and another part goes to a bounty pool. This is distributed in various neutral envelopes, and at some point, players get to draw an envelope each time they eliminate another player.
In total, with her victory and all the bounty prizes, Marte Ruud Sandberg takes home €48,875 from the tournament with 256 players. This was distributed as €14,675 for the first prize and €34,200 in bounties.
Big cash in the end

– Thank you, this was a very nice warm-up for Estrella. The first prize was originally €20,000, but there was an ICM deal made four ways, and then we played for the bounties in addition to 10 percent and the trophy. There were envelopes left with €20,000, €10,000, and €1,200 in the treasure chest, explains the Norwegian champion from 2023.
Sandberg dominated several opponents and sent them out of the tournament on day 2. She found her biggest cash right at the end when she eliminated the last opponent in the tournament.
– I picked a lot of envelopes and had quite a large chip lead for a long time, but only picked up small elimination prizes from the envelopes. But it was exciting that two of the big ones were left with three players remaining. First, the smallest stack busted, and then the €10k fell. So it was 50/50 whether it was €1,200 or €20,000 in the last one. It was absolutely amazing to pick correctly.
The Norwegian hope is not playing EPT in Barcelona, but is ready for the €1,100 Main Event, €550 Cup, and €2,200 High Roller in Estrella in the coming days.
