Nosheen Hasan Burney Joins VGP Management to Strengthen Policy and Management for a Healthy Lifestyle and Food Safety

The Nutrition, Health Protection and Prevention Directorate draws up policy aimed at a healthy lifestyle and the safety of food and consumer products. As an MT member, Nosheen will work on a policy aimed at reducing obesity and overweight among children and adults. In addition, she will be responsible for the safety of consumer products. An important priority in this domain is the development of new regulations for playground equipment and attractions. Nosheen is also responsible for the Departmental Crisis Center of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and the VGP secretariat.

Nosheen Hasan Burney (MA) is deputy head of the Education Professionals, School Development and Digitization department at the Secondary Education Directorate of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Before that, she was manager of Asylum and Protection at the IND and she also worked at the Ministry of Justice and Security. Nosheen studied Management, Economics and Law at the Rotterdam School of Economic Studies and holds a Masters in European Law & Policy from the University of Portsmouth (UK).

We were looking for someone who had experience in policy making and management to strengthen the MT VGP. Nosheen has that experience, for example with policy issues at OCW and J&V, but also as a manager in a complex implementation practice. With Nosheen we have an enthusiastic, collaborative new MT member with a great eye for her people.”

Nosheen Hasan Burney: “Contributing to a healthy and fit Netherlands. A task that affects the whole of the Netherlands and which fortunately is receiving more and more attention. I look forward to making a contribution together with the VGP colleagues and with stakeholders in the field to promoting a healthy lifestyle and guaranteeing food and product safety. My experience with politically sensitive dossiers in hectic and dynamic environments will also help to support the DCC. As an MT member of these teams and the secretariat, I want to enhance the cooperation and further encouraging connection in the department and in the field with an eye for job satisfaction and well-being of colleagues. I am therefore very much looking forward to working at VWS.”

This appointment was made through the general procedure for positions within the General Administrative Service. The recruitment and selection for this appointment has been done by Directorate General ABD and Directorate General Public Health.
