jpnn.comMAKASSAR – South Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Andi Rian Ryacudu Djajadi said that not all areas in the province are categorized as high-risk regarding the simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) on November 27, 2024.

“I have received the data, and South Sulawesi is ranked fifth. However, there are several classes which are high, medium and low. Not all areas in South Sulawesi (are highly vulnerable),” said Inspector General Rian when responding to the results of the Bawaslu RI mapping which released South Sulawesi Province as being in the high-risk category, after the Peaceful Pilkada Declaration at Karebosi Field, Makassar, Wednesday.

The Regional Police Chief said that in South Sulawesi there are 24 regencies/cities and not all areas are in the high-risk category, but there are still six to seven areas in the medium-risk category and the rest are low.

The former South Kalimantan Police Chief mentioned several areas prone to violence, including Pinrang Regency and others.

Mapping of election vulnerabilities in South Sulawesi, he said, was based on several considerations such as geographical area, history of regional elections and number of candidate pairs.

The high-ranking police officer also reminded that the regional election situation was different from the previous general and presidential elections.

In fact, Andi Rian said that the situation during the regional elections tended to be higher compared to the general elections.

The party is aware that the situation in the regional election process will certainly tend to be higher, because the local voters and those they elect can know each other and even have family and kinship ties.

South Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Andi Rian Djajadi said that not all of his areas were categorized as high-risk in the 2024 Pilkada.
