After his team’s 12-run win in the first ODI against New Zealand, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma admitted that his side were “scared”. It is also certain that India would have lost yesterday had it not been for Mohammad Siraj’s brilliant bowling effort.
Despite scoring a huge score, India managed to win till the last minute. Rohit is very worried about the poor form of the bowlers except Siraj. “To be honest, the way he (Bracewell) batted, it was clean ball-striking. We knew that if we bowled well, we would not lose. “Unfortunately, that’s what happened. I said at the toss that I wanted to see us challenge ourselves and it didn’t happen as I expected, but sometimes that happens in cricket,” Rohit said during the post-match presentation.
Siraj, who was brilliant in the last Lankan series, turned the game around in his second spell. Otherwise Gill’s double century would have been in the water.
