Not Shubman Gill, Marnes Labuschagne predicts world cricket’s next batting superstar

by time news

Ahmedabad: Shubman Gill is considered to be the successor of Virat Kohli in Indian cricket. Gill has scored three centuries, including an ODI double, in 13 matches played in Tests, ODIs and T20Is this year. He also holds the record of becoming the youngest player to achieve this feat with his ODI double century against New Zealand.

Later, Gill shone in T20 cricket and scored a century, but he did not get a chance in the first two Tests against Australia. He got a chance in the third Test in Indore but failed to shine. However, cricket observers consider Gill as the next poster boy of Indian cricket.

Despite this, Marnes Labuschagne, the Australian player and number one in the Test rankings, openly says that Gill is not the next superstar when it comes to world cricket. Participating in ESPN CricInfo’s Q&A program, Labuschagne was asked who is the next superstar in world cricket, Gil or England’s Harry Brooke.

To this Labuschagne’s reply was as follows. God, it’s Harry Brooke. “My answer may not be very popular, but I like Brooke’s batting more,” Labuschagne said.

Brooke, who has been in good form like Gill, scored 329 runs from two Tests in the last Test series against New Zealand. Brooke has played only six Tests for England and has scored 809 runs. Brooke is also the star of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the next IPL season.
