New Delhi: Ashok Leyland, the country’s largest bus manufacturing company, has received a big order from the Maharashtra government. The company has received a contract of Rs 982 crore from Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MMRTC). According to this, the company will have to supply 2,104 virgin passenger buses. The company says that it will start delivery next month itself. With this, the number of Ashok Leyland buses in the MMRTC fleet will increase. MMRTC is one of the largest government undertakings in the country. It has a fleet of more than 15,000 buses. Ashok Leyland is among the top five bus manufacturing companies in the world. Ashok Leyland’s headquarters is in Chennai. The company says that the buses supplied to MMRTC will follow CMVR standards. Their body will be AIS-153 compliant and it will have a 197 HP-series engine with iGen6 BS 6 OBD-2 technology. Along with this, there will also be a provision of real engine suspension. These buses will be manufactured at Ashok Leyland’s exclusive bus body plants in Alwar, Rajasthan and Chennai. The company’s MD and CEO Shenu Agarwal said that this order shows how dedicated Ashok Leyland is to launch products with modern facilities.

Meanwhile, Ashok Leyland shares are trading flat in the early market on Tuesday. At 12.30 pm, it was trading at Rs 228.20 with a gain of 0.02%. At this rate, the company’s market cap is Rs 66,979.91 crore. Its 52-week high is Rs 245.60 and lowest level is Rs 157.65.
