Not the T20 World Cup, but India’s eyes on the Olympics

But they are not going that way. Their goal now is the global sporting event the Olympic Games. India wants to host the 2036 Olympics.

The next Olympics will be held in Los Angeles in 228. The 2032 Olympic city is Brisbane, Australia. India wants to host the next Olympics i.e. 2036 Olympics. This is what Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his speech on India’s Independence Day.

India has also started preliminary preparations for hosting the 2036 Olympics, Modi said. Modi also congratulated the Indian athletes participating in this year’s Olympics.

Modi said, ‘Today we have among us the youth of India, who raised the flag of India at the Olympics. I congratulate them from the bottom of my heart to 1.4 billion Indians. Congratulations to those who will participate in the Para Olympics.’

The Indian Prime Minister commented on the Olympics, ‘We held the G20 conference a few days ago. As a state, India has proved to the world that it is capable of such arrangements. India now dreams of hosting the Olympic Games in 2036. We have started preparations in this regard.’

Modi is optimistic but has to look to the International Olympic Committee (IOC). They will decide which country will host the Olympics. Another of their bodies, the Future Host Commission (FHC), decides the matter on behalf of the IOC.

The 2010 Commonwealth Games is the biggest sporting event in India’s history so far. More than 4,000 athletes from 77 countries participated in 272 events at the Games held in Delhi. Earlier in 1982, Asian Games of 33 countries were held in Delhi. In addition, India hosted the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017.
