Surat: The family has lodged a complaint against his girlfriend who was staying with him in the incident of the youth’s suicide in Gujarat’s Surat. Mother Veena Devi has approached the police with a complaint about the death of Rahul Singhi (27), a native of Uttar Pradesh. The complaint states that the son took his own life after his girlfriend Sonam Ali and her brother forced him to eat beef and a suicide note stating this was posted on Facebook.
Rahul Singh was found hanging dead at his house in Uddna Patel Nagar on June 27. The young man lived here with his girlfriend Sonam Ali. On the day of the incident, the woman’s statement was that she saw Rahul hanging from the ceiling fan. Based on this, the police had also registered a case of unnatural death.
Rahul, a native of Uttar Pradesh, came to Surat to work in a textile mill. My mother and sister were brought here. During this, Sonam became close to her colleague Sonam Ali. The young man wanted to marry Sonam. But Rahul’s family opposed this. With this, Rahul left the house and was staying together with Sonath in Patel Nagar. After leaving home, Rahul had no contact with his family.
Veenadevi says that after Rahul’s death, she came to know about her son’s Facebook post when a relative called her from Uttar Pradesh. In the complaint, it is said that this is the suicide note that Rahul is believed to have posted on the day he took his own life and it says that he could not bear the harassment of his girlfriend and her brother and took his own life. Rahul’s note says that his girlfriend and brother forced him to eat beef and threatened to kill him if he did not eat beef.
Meanwhile, the police’s response was that the family has lodged a complaint with the details of the Facebook page and an investigation is underway. Police said efforts are on to seek more information from Facebook and no record of Rahul and Sonam’s marriage has been found so far.
