The purpose of this exhibition is provide relevant considerations for the preparation of a Royal Decree that regulates Mandatory Sports Insurance (SOD), with special attention to the established minimum amounts. It should be noted that these amounts have undergone significant modifications after the enactment of Law 39/2022, of December 30, on Sports.
Article 22.2.c) of the aforementioned law, when referring to the “specific rights of athletes integrated into a state sports federation,” highlights the need for regulatory development that addresses accident coverage in the sports field, including transfers and displacements in the federative context. However, a superficial interpretation could ignore fundamental aspects already established in article 23, “duties of athletes.”
