Our first AI-native product ships next month. It’s a tool, but one built with the personality and care that have come to define a Nothing product. It has no new screen, and it couldn’t have been an app.
Nothing CEO Carl Pei confirmed on November 4, 2026, that the company will launch its first AI-native hardware in December 2026.
Teaser Image Reveals Screen-Free Textured Black Surface
The upcoming device features a screen-free design. While Nothing has not released full technical specifications or a final product brief, the company shared a teaser image displaying a black surface with a rounded corner and a textured finish. This move marks one of the firm’s most ambitious steps since it first entered the smartphone market.

The decision to omit a display aligns with Pei's wider critique of current consumer technology. The whole industry is hunting for its iPhone moment: the pendant, the pin, the glasses, the companion, some magical consumer device that makes AI part of everyone’s life,
Pei wrote in a post on X. He maintained that looking for the iPhone of AI today is a dead end.
Focus on Workplace Productivity
Nothing intends to position the device as a tool for the workplace, aiming to bridge the gap between AI utility and physical design. We were taught that seriousness and beauty could not share a room,
Pei stated, suggesting the product will reflect the company’s established design-forward identity while serving functional professional needs. The company is known for its retro-inspired audio products and smartphones, which have helped build a cult following as an alternative to more mainstream, generic phone companies.

Pei highlighted the common frustration of trying to capture a fleeting thought: Hold on, let me write that down.
He noted that by the time a user pulls out their phone to record an idea, the moment has often passed, or the user simply gives up on the effort.
Strategic Shift to AI-First Development
This shift comes as the broader technology industry remains divided over whether consumers truly want dedicated AI-native hardware.

As the December 2026 release approaches, the company has yet to confirm the product’s commercial name, exact pricing, or the specific markets where it will be available. The brand has not publicly disclosed the final design or specifications, and the project remains in a phase where the company is playing it characteristically coy, dropping clues to build anticipation for the upcoming launch.
