Director Bhadran says that Sphatikam is a film made only with Mohanlal, the favorite star of the Malayalees in mind. The success of Sphatikam is due to Mohanlal’s brilliant performance. At the same time, Bhadran said in an interview to Kaumudi that he had not considered any other actor to replace Lal while writing the script for Sphatikam.
Bhadran’s words are: “Only Mammootty’s personality, looks and Pulli’s voice can bring the prediction, which is a very important element in Aiyar the Great, to the hearts of the people. Mammootty can’t do stunts like Mohanlal did in that movie. All the technological support is there today but Mohanlal has shown all the work he has done in that film at a time when there was none of that.”
