(Ihtsham Kayani) In the contempt of court case over the social media campaign against Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, the Islamabad High Court has ordered the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), journalists Ghareeda Farooqui, Amar Solangi and Hasan Ayub. Notices were issued.

The full court of Islamabad High Court heard the contempt proceedings, Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Aamir Farooq, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir. And Justice Thaman Rifat Imtiaz is included in the bench, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri is not included in the full court.

At the beginning of the hearing, Justice Amir Farooq addressed the Additional Attorney General and said, “No, Mr. Additional Attorney General, this will not work, we will not tolerate this campaign, we have taken action before but no one has learned any lesson, which He has also been involved in this, action has been taken against him, whoever wants to apply should apply, no one is being stopped.

He further said that what is the responsibility of PEMRA, PTA and FIA? Can’t see them? You are the representative of the government, so you have been called.

Later, Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb remarked that there was a campaign against the judges but the government did not take any action, the law minister and the attorney general did not speak, it means you are supporting it.

The Additional Attorney General replied that no direction was given by you, the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court said that no, don’t do such things, what direction will we give, is it not the responsibility of the government? This is an institutional response, the judges will respond to the council, so are the judges left to respond now?

It should be noted that the report published in Dawn newspaper on July 6 stated that the letters circulated on social media by the Controller of Examinations of Karachi University regarding the law degree of Islamabad High Court judge Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri. And after filing a complaint in the Supreme Judicial Council, the Islamabad High Court can issue a statement on the campaign against the judge.
