Notice on the meeting to start the development of a nature protection plan for protected marine areas in the waters of the territorial and exclusive economic zone of the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Riga
The development of nature protection plans for the existing specially protected marine Natura 2000 areas “Nida-Pērkone”, “Akmensrags”, “Irbe strait”, “Western coast of the Gulf of Riga”, “Selga west of Tūja”, “Vitrupe – Tūja”, ” Ainaži – Salacgrīva”, as well as potential protected marine areas in the waters of the exclusive economic zone of the Republic of Latvia in the Baltic Sea.
We invite everyone interested to participate in the plan launch meeting:
on June 9 at 16.00 Engure, Jūras iela 85 – Engure culture house
on June 14 at 16.00 in Ventspils; Tārgales Street 4 – in the Parventas library

The nature protection plan is developed by the Nature Protection Administration in cooperation with the Latvian Institute of Hydroecology and the Scientific Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment “BIOR”.
We invite you to express your opinion and make proposals regarding the future vision of the development of protected marine areas during the meeting or in writing by July 16, 2022, addressing them to the Nature Protection Board (Baznīcas iela 7, Sigulda, Sigulda nov., LV-2150) or pasts@daba. gov.lv, phone +37126189037, www.reef.daba.gov.lv).
The development of the plan is carried out within the framework of the LIFE project of the European Union environmental and climate measures program “Research of marine protected habitats and determination of the necessary protection status in the exclusive economic zone of Latvia” (LIFE19 NAT/LV/000973 LIFE REEF).
