Nouakchott: Strengthening parliamentary cooperation at the center of talks between Mr. Talbi Alami and his Mauritanian counterpart

These talks focused on ways to promote parliamentary cooperation and the development of more advanced partnership mechanisms to further contribute to the positive dynamic of Moroccan-Mauritanian relations.

On this occasion, Mr. Talbi Alami, who is leading a large parliamentary delegation for a working visit to Mauritania, underlined the depth and solidity of relations between Morocco and Mauritania which are experiencing constant development under the enlightened leadership of the leaders of both country, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.

This working visit aims to consolidate the ties of cooperation between the two legislative institutions to give new impetus to relations between the two brotherly countries, added the President of the House of Representatives.

And to recall in this sense the recent creation of a Moroccan-Mauritanian friendship parliamentary group at the level of the Mauritanian National Assembly, which opens broad prospects for parliamentary action between the two countries.

This desire to enhance cooperation with Mauritania, a priority country for Morocco, reflects the High Royal Guidelines aimed at further consolidating relations with African countries, argued Mr. Talbi Alami.

For his part, Mr. Bamba Meguet affirmed that Mauritania and Morocco are linked by solid relations which draw their strength from a long common history and a shared cultural heritage, constituting a solid basis for in-depth parliamentary cooperation, in line with the expectations of the leaders of the two countries.

This dynamic of cooperation has made it possible to achieve significant achievements, constituting a pillar of common action to respond to current and future challenges and guarantee a better future for the Maghreb region.

The meeting between members of the legislative institutions of the two countries made it possible to focus on issues of common interest and on ways to promote multidimensional relations, he stressed.

This meeting was marked by the presence of the presidents of the parliamentary groups of the majority and the opposition at the level of the two legislative institutions, the president of the Moroccan-Mauritanian friendship parliamentary group and the Moroccan ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar.

At the head of a large parliamentary delegation, Mr. Rachid Talbi Alami, is making a working visit to Nouakchott on February 9 and 10, at the invitation of his Mauritanian counterpart, Mohamed Ould Meguett.

In addition to the President of the House of Representatives, the delegation is made up of the President of the National Rally of Independents Group, Mohamed Ghayat, the President of the Istiqlalien Group of Unity and Egalitarianism, Nourdin Moudian, the President of the Socialist Opposition Group Ittihadi, Abderrahim Chahid, the president of the Democratic and Social Constitutional Group, Chaoui Belassal, the president of the Progress and Socialism Group, Rachid Hamouni and the president of the Justice and Development Group, Abdellah Bouanou.

This working visit aims to strengthen cooperation ties between the two legislative institutions, to intensify coordination and the exchange of parliamentary experiences and to discuss issues of common interest.
