Novak Djokovic’s presence at Flushing Meadows still uncertain

by time news

Serbian player Novak Djokovic could miss the US Open (August 29-September 11) this season due to current laws in the United States regarding the Covid-19 vaccine.

Eliminated by Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals of Roland-Garros, Novak Djokovic could be absent at the US Open, which will take place in the United States from August 29 to September 11. The reason ? The Serbian’s vaccination status, which does not meet current US regulations.

In the United States, it is no longer mandatory to present a negative test for vaccinated travelers wishing to enter American territory. However, a complete vaccination certificate must be presented to travel to the other side of the Atlantic.

According to the British daily The Telegraph , the United States does not intend to modify the conditions of access to its territory in the coming weeks. Novak Djokovic could therefore miss a second Grand Slam tournament this season, after the long episode of the Australian Open.
