In a celebration held by the General Administration of Libraries, Publications, Publishing and Translation at Sabha University, the writer and novelist Ibrahim Othmouna celebrated the signing of his book “Women in the Sun.”
Athmuna told the Libyan News Agency in Sabha: “The subject of the book deals with a historical period in the “Al-Buwanis” region (Samanu, Al-Zighen) during the period from 1924 to 1928.”
The writer stressed that the names of the characters included in the novel are real, with the exception of a character called (Zainab), who is an imaginary character, noting that “the book is not a historical book, but rather a new reading of history.”
Regarding his future literary publications, Othmana said: “I have a new literary novel that I am currently working on. I have initially chosen the title (Noise) for it, and it will be submitted for publication before the end of this year.”
For his part, the Director of the National Center for Popular Heritage, Ali Barhana, said: “This book includes a literary novel that talks about the history of the “Al-Buwanis” region in southern Libya and the events that took place there during the period from 1924 to 1928.”
According to the Wal Agency, Burhana explained that “the novelist dealt with these events in a literary way through this novel, in which he imagined the reality of the region, what happened socially, and put it in a literary image.”
