Every August 18 begins the novena to Santa Monica, the mother of Saint Augustine and patroness of mothers and wives, a model for Christian mothers.
Of this great saint, Pope Francis said in 2013: “How many tears did that holy woman shed for the conversion of her son! And how many mothers also today shed tears so that their own children return to Christ! Do not lose hope in the grace of God!”
Santa Monica constantly prayed and offered sacrifices for the conversion of her husband, who was a violent and womanizing man. Years later God granted him this wish and Patricio was baptized.
