Every September 14, the day of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, begins the novena to St. Pio de Pietrelcina, Padre Pio (1887-1968) a Franciscan Capuchin priest who received the stigmata of Christ and whose life was an expression of the same life of him. Lord, of constant testing, suffering and pain; but precisely for that reason, which has the ability to free us from all bad things to be new people, as everything new is there.

Padre Pio – born Francesco Forgione, on 25 May 1887 – received the name ‘Pio’ when he entered the Order of Capuchin Friars Minor (Franciscans), in Pietrelcina, Campania (Italy). He was an Italian Capuchin friar and priest who was famous for his gifts of miracles and for the stigmata that appeared on his hands, feet and side. God called him to his presence in Apulia, San Giovanni Rotondo; on September 23, 1968. He was beatified in 1999 and canonized in 2002 by Pope Saint John Paul II.
