The proposal for its formation was approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by PM Modi on Wednesday. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed the media about this. This Center of Excellence will be dedicated to Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR), which will help India to emerge as a global hub providing cutting-edge media and entertainment content. The arrival of this centre will increase the possibility of foreign investment in this sector in the country.

It will be built in this city

This center, which will be started with the participation of prestigious organizations like FICCI and CII, will be built in the country’s economic capital Mumbai. In fact, the AVGC-XR sector today plays a very important role in the field of media and entertainment, which includes many other sectors including film production, OTT platforms, gaming, advertising and health, education and other social sectors. It is noteworthy that due to the rapidly developing technology and increasing internet access across the country as well as the cheapest data rates, India is ready to grow rapidly in the field of AVGC-XR today.

The government believes that this center will offer special training and education programs to equip both amateurs and professionals with the latest skills in the latest technology. In this regard, Information and Broadcasting Minister Vaishnav said that this Center of Excellence will focus extensively on the creation of India’s intellectual property (IP) for both domestic consumption and global reach. This will create content based on India’s rich historical and cultural heritage. At the same time, this center will also work as an incubation center, providing resources for startups and early-stage companies in the AVGC-XR sector.
