Last June, BMW Motorrad took advantage of the Isle of Man TT to present its new M 1000 XR there, a radical sport-touring powered by the same BMMW ShiftCam engine as the S 1000 RR superbike and that has been tuned by M Motorsport specialists to create a motorcycle that is equally effective on the track as it is when facing long stretches on the road.
The motorcycle that BMW took to the Isle of Man TT was a test unit, still unfinished, and it was not until today, October 26, when the Munich-based manufacturer finally offered us all the details of this impressive machine, including its price in the Spanish market.
Unlike the S 1000 Its maximum power is 148 kW (201 hp) at 12,750 rpm, that is, 31 hp more than the S 1000 XR, and also boasts a devastating maximum torque of 113 Nm at 11,000 revolutions. Its maximum speed is estimated at 275 km/h.
The maximum engine speed increases substantially, now reaching its ceiling at 14,600 rpm. The acceleration capacity of the M 1000 XR is also substantially higher than that offered by the S 1000 thanks to a shorter secondary gear ratio by using a sprocket that now has 47 teeth compared to 45 on the S 1000 XR.
Furthermore, the 4th, 5th and 6th gear ratios are now shorter compared to the S 1000 XR, which also benefits rear wheel traction, acceleration and traction power.
Beyond its overflowing power, what draws the most attention about the M 1000 XR is its impressive aerodynamics, key in the development of this model. The M According to BMW calculations, the aerodynamic load of the spoilers begins to be noticeable from 100 km/h onwards, and reaches its apogee. at speeds above 220 km/h, where it offers 12 kilos of additional support to the front axle.
The suspension and chassis of the M 1000 XR are based on components from the S 1000 The M XR features an inverted fork with a 45mm slider tube diameter at the front, although this closed cartridges, i.e. a separate piston-cylinder hydraulic system. Also new for the M XR is additional fork spring base adjustment along with the standard Dynamic Damping Control (DDC) suspension strut.
Additionally, the M XR forks feature an upper fork bridge with a milled handlebar clamp, as well as a more forward-facing black tubular aluminum handlebar with laser-engraved “BMW M 1000 XR” inscription.
Also new on the M XR are the rear-view mirrors on the handlebar ends, available optionally from the factory. The fork legs have also been modified and are now designed to accommodate the new M brake calipers. Also new to the M XR is the adjustable steering damper.
After the M 1000 RR and M 1000 R, the new M 1000 XR is the third BMW motorcycle to feature M brakes, directly developed using the experience gained with the racing brakes of the M 1000 RR machines that BMW operates in the World Superbike Championship. The four-piston, radially mounted, monobloc M brake calipers feature an anodized blue coating along with the famous M logo, working in conjunction with 320mm brake discs and a new radial master cylinder.
The M 1000 XR is equipped as standard with lvery light forged aluminum wheels; For the most exquisite, optionally and within the M Competition package, BMW offers its M Carbon carbon fiber wheels, 1.4 kilos lighter per unit.
On an electronic level, the M 1000 XR also receives improvements; input, the pilot has the new Brake Slide Assist system, which offers the option to adjust the level of rear wheel slip when skidding. The instrument panel has the same design as that used on the M 1000 RR, and also offers the M start animation. As optional equipment, the M GPS Laptrigger y el M GPS Datalogger using an unlock code through the OBD interface of the instrument panel.
The BMW M 1000 XR can be equipped at the dealer with a paquete M Competition that takes your potential to the limit. Its 223 kilos of weight (with gasoline) can be reduced to 220 kilos thanks to the elements included in this pack: M Carbon rims, M Carbon parts such as the rear wheel cover with integrated chain guard, side panels, the front wheel, inner cover and ignition/steering lock cover, as well as a fully adjustable M Rider footrest system, passenger footrest and the MGPS Laptrigger (includes dealer unlock code).

The new BMW M 1000 XR 2024 It has a confirmed price in Spain of 28,950 euros VAT, transportation and registration tax included, and is offered in Luminous White/M Motorsport color. Those interested in the Black Storm Metallic/M Motorsport color will necessarily have to equip the optional M Competition package (+6,196 euros), raising the final price of the motorcycle to 35,146 euros.
