“When the gendarmes arrived at the home, there was blood everywhere. On you, on the stairs, on the walls, ”describes Apolline Gigout, who presides over the correctional hearing at the Compiègne court, this Monday. Facing her, Laurent L., a resident of Noyon, where the military intervened on May 5 for an altercation between neighbors. Once there, they find themselves face to face with several drunk individuals, some of whom are bleeding.
Among them, Laurent L., who spits on the gendarmes before trying to bite them. Judged for this violence, this 36-year-old man recognizes the facts despite memories clouded by the alcohol ingested this evening. He denies, on the other hand, the violence on the children of his companion which will be reported by several witnesses. He was sentenced to sixteen months in prison, six of which were suspended.
“He also broke a bottle on my head”
It is during the evening at the neighbors that an argument breaks out. One of the guests criticizes Jérôme L. for his attitude towards his companion, whom the defendant allegedly insulted on the basis of marital jealousy. Annoyed, Jérôme L. returns home and starts beating the children. The 3-year-old youngest was reportedly slapped, while his older sister was pulled from her sleep by the foot and shaken.
Alerted by the cries of his companion, a neighbor arrives and punches Jérôme L. in the nose. The fight escalates. “He also broke a bottle on my head,” says the defendant. When the gendarmes arrive, he is unleashed, refuses to be treated and has to be handcuffed. He spits on them, tries to bite a soldier, insults them.
The violence continues in the police car which takes the defendant to the emergency room, as well as to the hospital where he insults the medical staff. The next day, when he learns that he is in custody, he rips out his drip and flees.
It was only on May 11 that he went to the police station in Creil, the town where he found refuge with his brother. The man has eleven mentions in his criminal record including a conviction from the Somme Assize Court in 2017 for gang rape. Marie-Céline Lawrysz, public prosecutor, highlights her “worrying” personality which requires detention. Five gendarmes have filed a complaint, they will be compensated up to 300 and 500 € for their damage.
