NRBC Bank celebrated its 12th year of commercial operations, Bengali New Year and Eid Reunion with a colorful event.

On the occasion of these three festivals on Thursday (April 18) all the departments of the head office of NRBC Bank and all the branches and sub-branches of the country organized a discussion meeting and ‘one dis party’. State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Farooq was the chief guest. In this program organized in the hybrid system, Bank Chairman Pervez Tamal, Vice Chairman Rafiqul Islam Mia Arzu, Executive Committee Chairman Mohammad Adnan Imam, Risk Management Committee Chairman AKM Mostafizur Rahman, Director Oliur Rahman, AM Saidur Rahman, Lakiyat Ullah, Mohammad Nazim, independent Director and Audit Committee Chairman Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) Abu Esrar, Independent Director. Khan Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Dr. Rad Mojib Lalon, Managing Director and Chief Executive Golam Auliya along with entrepreneurs and senior officers of the bank were present.

Apart from the establishment anniversary of NRBC Bank, a reunion program was organized to welcome the year 1431 of the Bengali calendar and after the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. In one dish party, most of the officers and employees of the bank cook their favorite food and enjoy the festival with their colleagues.

State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Farooq said on the occasion, the non-sectarian religion in Bangladesh built by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is a celebration for everyone. The entire nation celebrated Eid and Bengali New Year in a festive atmosphere. NRBC Bank turns 12 today. On this occasion, I extend my sincere greetings and congratulations to the officers and employees of the bank. The way NRBC Bank is playing a role in village development is really commendable. We believe that NRBC Bank’s public welfare activities will facilitate the government’s goal of poverty alleviation and employment generation.

NRBC Bank Chairman Parvez Tamal said that NRBC Bank is working for the betterment of people. We are implementing micro credit program to advance the backward people. Today we are celebrating Bengali New Year, Eid Reunion and Bank’s Foundation Anniversary – these three festivals together. NRBC Bank wants to make the life of every villager of Bengal colorful like a festival.

Bank’s Vice Chairman Rafiqul Islam Mia Arju said, NRBC Bank is setting new milestones by reaching the top in various financial indicators in 11 years of commercial operations. Among the new generation banks, NRBC Bank is at the top in achieving maximum profit and branch expansion. NRBC Bank is much ahead of previous generation banks in some respects. The bank is moving forward through the programs undertaken for the upliftment of the people of the village.

Mohammad Adnan Imam, chairman of the bank’s executive committee, said that our own innovation was sub-branch banking. Through sub-branches we have been able to take banking services to marginal villages. Micro-loans are being given without collateral to make the marginal people entrepreneurs. Already, 80 thousand people have become entrepreneurs with NRBC Bank’s micro loans. NRBC Bank is the people’s bank. Where more people can be employed, we are investing. Banking services are being brought to the doorsteps of people. Besides, we have emphasized on fintech to deliver realtime banking services. Our main goal is to provide employment to 1 lakh people every year.

Note that NRBC Bank was established on April 2, 2013 by the hands of 53 expatriate entrepreneurs. Commercial operations began on April 18 of that year. The bank’s financial indicators have been very strong during the period under discussion. In 2017, the deposit was Tk 4 thousand 523 crore. By the end of 2023, it has increased more than 4 times to 17 thousand 613 crores. Thus the loan disbursement increased more than three times. In 2017, the debt was Tk 4,300 crore, and at the end of 2023, it was Tk 14,508 crore. The number of employees of the bank has increased 6 times from 617 people to 3 thousand 832 people. In 2017, the number of branches was only 61. At the end of 2023, there are about 800 branches and sub-branches.
