NRBC Bank held an exchange meeting with cluster-based industrialists to create public awareness about the Rs 25,000 crore ‘Pre-Finance Scheme’ set up by Bangladesh Bank for the entrepreneurs of the Cottage, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (CMSME) sector.

Loans were distributed among entrepreneurs of Hosiery cluster in Gaibandha on the occasion. On Friday (July 12) at a hotel in Gaibandha, Bangladesh Bank’s Executive Director handed over loan checks to entrepreneurs in an event titled ‘Increasing awareness about the CMSME sector in cluster investment and disbursing loans publicly’. At that time, Bangladesh Bank’s SME and Special Programs Department Director Mohammad Ashikur Rahman, NRBC Bank’s Managing Director (ongoing duty) Md. Rabiul Islam, Additional Director of Bangladesh Bank. Mostafizur Rahman, Joint Director Rahima Khatun, SEVP of NRBC Bank Tanushree Mitra, Head of Micro Credit Department of NRBC Bank Ramzan Ali Bhuiyan and leaders of local business associations were present.

A total of Tk 67 lakh loan checks were handed over to 10 entrepreneurs at the event. This loan has been given to Ma Hosiery, Najma Hosiery, Joba Hosiery, Hozaifa Fashion House, Taufiq & Junaid Bastrabitan & Garments, Lincoln Hosiery, Mahi Hosiery, Maruf & Lubna Bastrabitan, Nazis & Nirab Hosiery and Sumi Hosiery.

Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Md. Kabir Ahmed said, the initiative of the government and Bangladesh Bank has created the trend of inclusive economy. The program to bring the micro entrepreneurs of a remote village of the country under banking services is being successfully implemented. Banking services and taking loans have been made much easier for them. Various funds have been formed to develop as an entrepreneur. Through the commercial banks of the country, Bangladesh Bank is providing low interest loans to new entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs, small entrepreneurs and people of different levels from various funds on simple terms. Those who got this loan from NRBC Bank today is also a product of Bangladesh Bank’s efforts.

He also said that Bangladesh Bank has already identified 177 clusters and continues to cooperate. Initiatives have been taken to export their products abroad by supporting entrepreneurs with training and financing. Cluster-based industries can play an important role in diversification of exports. Other clusters like hosiery have large markets abroad. In order to export the products of Bangladesh properly in that market, Bangladesh Bank is doing other cooperative work including setting up various funds.

Managing Director of NRBC Bank (ongoing duty) Md. Rabiul Islam said, NRBC Bank is giving importance to cluster-based financing for the economic development of people in remote areas of the country. Microcredit programs and SME loans are being taken to the doorsteps of entrepreneurs. Already, micro-loans have been distributed among 80,000 entrepreneurs. From this prefinance fund of Bangladesh Bank, loans of Tk 684 crore have been distributed among about 10 thousand entrepreneurs. NRBC Bank is the successful implementer of all the funds created by the government and Bangladesh Bank to create new entrepreneurs and develop the economy at the marginal level of the country. NRBC Bank’s activities in rural development will expand and continue.
