All eight people injured in the Solingen attack will survive. This was stated by North Rhine-Westphalia’s Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU).

According to NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU), all eight people injured in the Solingen attack will survive. “One of the state’s great achievements was that we saved people whose lives were in danger. The other was that we caught the guy who arranged the whole thing,” said Reul. Fortunately, there are many people in this state who are willing to do a lot and who put in enormous effort to achieve such feats.

Reul criticized the public debate after the attack, and called for a more objective approach. He said that “all sorts of things are being mixed up.” Lower Saxony’s Interior Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD) made a similar statement: “Five days after the attack, many topics are being mixed together: terror, asylum, migration, knife crime, Islamist extremism and immigration. Many people are frightened, politicians are making too many demands and populists are trying to divide society.”

In the suspected Islamist attack in Solingen on Friday evening, a man killed three people with a knife and injured eight others at a town festival. The suspected perpetrator is 26-year-old Syrian Issa Al H., who is in custody. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office is investigating him for murder and suspected membership of the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS), among other things.
