According to a new report from the last 24 hours in the United States, NSO spyware, which only recently received a huge lawsuit from the global technology giant Apple, was also discovered on the phones of US State Department employees.

According to the publication, the phones of at least nine of the employees were hacked by an anonymous hacker who used the software of the Israeli spy company known for its Pegasus software. According to sources who spoke with the Reuters news agency, the break-ins have taken place in recent months and have focused on officials who have been or are employed in Uganda.

NSO said in response to the publication: “We opened an investigation last night after receiving a complaint that Ugandan phones, which are in use by US government representatives, have been hacked. We disconnected the relevant customers – Pegasus software is prevented from operating on US numbers, we do not know about such tracking, we will cooperate with the authorities. ”

As you may recall, last month Apple filed a lawsuit against NSO when it claimed that the Israeli company should be responsible for monitoring Apple users that it provided through the service it provided (and still provides) to various intelligence agencies and bodies around the world. It demands that NSO pay it for the time it has had to devote to dealing with the many vulnerabilities it has exploited in iPhones, and promises to donate any amount paid by NSO, plus $ 10 million from Apple’s pocket, to spyware exposure entities. It even demands that the court ban NSO from any use of Apple products and services.
