Actor and veteran performer NSƯT Chí Trung has shared details of his verbal will at age 65, declaring that he will not distribute his personal savings to his adult children and intends to keep the funds to cover his own future medical and care needs.
The announcement arrived through a video posted to the artist’s personal social media channels, where he reflected on his decades in entertainment and the realities of aging. The idea for a will came after a social media user asked whether he had prepared financial arrangements for his family, prompting a candid response about what he owns and what he intends to keep.
Why Chí Trung Is Keeping His Savings
While the video struck a lighthearted tone as the actor joked about recording a verbal testament while traveling, the reasoning behind his financial decisions is practical. He explained that his savings are meant to ensure self-sufficiency in his later years so he does not rely on his children if his health declines.

NSƯT Chí Trung told Dân trí, I'm not dividing this amount, not because I'm greedy, selfish, or stingy.
The actor explained that he wants to reserve these funds in case his physical condition suddenly worsens, allowing him to afford medication, enter a hospital, and hire someone to look after him. He noted that his children, Minh Trung and Huyền Trang, are already grown, and he maintains two children with his former wife, artist Ngọc Huyền. He stated that money can run out and property can change over time, making personal financial security a priority as he steps away from full-time leadership roles after serving as Acting Director of the Youth Theater for the 2017-2022 term.
Artist Prepares to Move from Hanoi Apartment
When taking stock of his physical assets, the former head of the Youth Theater noted that he holds no vast real estate portfolio. His primary property has been an old collective apartment at No. 1 Trang Tien street in Hanoi, a space he moved into with his mother in 1978 and expanded from a 7-square-meter room into a 32-square-meter home over more than four decades.
In October, the artist also began sorting through and liquidating older furniture and belongings in preparation for his eventual move.
What the Actor Leaves Behind for His Family
He summarized his guiding philosophy with a clear directive on personal accountability, noting that he hopes to leave them a name they can honor without ever having to bow their heads.

NSƯT Chí Trung stated according to Laodong, The greatest fortune is living honorably and leaving behind no debt called a bad reputation.
The video drew widespread attention across Facebook and TikTok, accumulating numerous likes as viewers debated the balance between financial inheritance and personal independence in retirement.
Having retired from his administrative duties at the Youth Theater, Chí Trung continues to select occasional screen projects, including his role as Mr. Hưng in the television series Độc đạo. Whether his children or other families will adopt a similar approach to inheritance remains a personal choice as questions of elder care and self-reliance continue to shape family discussions.
