Nu Colombia, the subsidiary of Nubank, obtained permission to operate as a financing company in Colombia, since it is worth remembering that the entity founded by Paisa David Vélez has its headquarters in Brazil.

“This milestone, which will allow it to expand its portfolio of savings products and soon launch the Nu Account, is a fundamental step for its long-term vision at the local level,” the company reported.

Obtaining this license, according to the firm, is a key event, given that it “seeks to reach all Colombians with an offer of digital financial services, leading in the country. Currently, the company has clients in 100% of the country’s departments and by September 2023 it had reached 800,000 users on its credit card.”

“Obtaining this license is the result of months of hard teamwork and represents a fundamental step in our journey in Colombia, as it enables the appropriate regulatory framework to launch our Nu Account and to continue expanding our product portfolio,” said Marcela Torres. , general manager of Nu Colombia.

The organization also highlighted investments in the country; remembering that “it celebrated its second anniversary in 2023 with the announcement of a new capitalization of close to $680,000 million, which added to the investments made since 2021, totals close to $2 trillion.”

Additionally, they highlighted that in September the International Finance Corporation (IFC) increased the A/B loan it had granted: from the initial commitment of US$150 million, the total amount increased to US$265.1 million.

Finally, they reported that “globally, Nu continues to grow. In Mexico, the customer base increased to 4.3 million, driven by the launch and expansion of the savings product. And in Brazil the product portfolio continues to be strengthened with credit cards, savings accounts and personal loans, reaching approximately 39 million, 65 million and 7 million active customers, respectively.”
