Israel, our small country, continues to amaze on the world economic arena. Despite its modest size, the state managed to enter the top twenty countries in the world by the number of billionaires. Thus, 36 people are citizens of Israel, whose fortune exceeds 1 billion dollars.

This ranks Israel 18th in the world, tied with South Korea, a tech powerhouse in its own right. Surprisingly, Israel outranks countries like Spain, the Netherlands, and Austria, which are large, established European economies.

The United States leads by a wide margin, with 813 billionaires, more than 22 times the number of billionaires in Israel. China follows with 406 billionaires, and India is third with 200.

Interestingly, Israel is close to countries like Japan and Singapore, renowned economic powerhouses, with 41 and 39 billionaires respectively. This is further evidence of the strength of the Israeli startup economy and its ability to generate significant wealth.

However, it is important to remember that the number of billionaires is not the only indicator of a country’s economic strength. Economic equality, quality of life, and level of education are equally important factors. Nevertheless, these figures highlight the enormous potential of the Israeli economy and its ability to compete with the world’s largest economies.

While Israel is still far from the level of the United States or China, it is proving that even a small country can make a significant mark on the global economic map.
