News from Angola – Angolan player Nuno Diogo won, last Saturday, the Third Edition of the Electronic Games Championship, called “Gaming Speed eRacing2023”, in an initiative by Refriango in partnership with AOX GAMES.

For the second time in a row, Nuno Diogo came out on top in the final of Gaming Speed eRacing2023, which took place at the AOX GAMES arena, in the cultural space Belas Shopping, where for three months around five thousand gamers rocked the virtual tracks with a lot of adrenaline and emotion.
With 116 points, the winner of this third edition, in addition to lifting the trophy, takes home a prize valued at Seven Hundred and Fifty thousand kwanzas, while the second placed, Ricardo Spinola, with 112 points collects Three hundred thousand, while the third place, gamer Emerson Dias with 88, takes just under one hundred thousand kwanzas.
Speaking to Notícias de Angola, Nuno Diogo expressed his congratulations for the victory, but did not fail to recognize the quality of the opponents and the difficulties he faced throughout the race.
“It was quite difficult, because all the opponents were tall. I didn’t have full command of the track, but with dedication and a little bit of cooing I managed to get first place”, she highlighted.
Opponent Ricardo Spínola, looking dissatisfied, pointed out that “the lack of control over the track and the wrong strategies were the obstacles to winning the race”.
According to the Project Coordinator, Essêncio Mavita, the Speed eRacing2023 edition featured the first Artificial Intelligence (AI) campaign.
With a cinematic and creative form, this technology transported players to the universe of high speed and the incredible challenges of Speed eRacing.
In total, 5 thousand gamers participated in the competition, between June 26th and September 30th, and the qualification phases were divided into two qualification stages, namely, from June 26th to July 9th and from September 10th to 30th, where the 18 players who will advance to the knockouts will come from.
The grand final featured six fastest drivers who played all or nothing behind the wheel of the Gran Turismo Sport simulator, technology used for this purpose.
In addition to games, Speed eRacing2023 also promoted discussions on topics that cross-cut this universe, including: Artificial Intelligence within eSport; Professionalization of the eSport market in Angola; Games and Education; and eSport as an Olympic modality.
