The Spanish team of the Billie Jean King Cup has sealed his pass to the Finals of the competition after Nuria Parrizas get the third and final point of the tie against Mexico compared to Marcela Zacarias (6-3 and 6-0), in a duel played this Saturday on the clay of the Puente Romano Marbella Tennis Club (Málaga).

The Granada, current number 80 in the world, took the lead in the game with two early ‘breaks’ that allowed her to make it 5-0. She was able to close the set in the sixth game, but the Mexican neutralized her opportunities before signing a break. Despite everything, Párrizas managed to close the set and start a series of seven consecutive wins. Thus, she endorsed a ‘donut’ to her opponent, number 196 in the WTA ranking, in the second set to close the contest in an hour and a half of play.

On Friday, the team led by Anabel Medina had already passed their first two singles matches; Sara Sorribes from Castellón overwhelmed Fernanda Contreras (6-0 and 6-0) and later Párrizas defeated Renata Zarazúa (6-4 and 6-3).

In this way, Spain will be for the third time, in as many editions, in the Finals of the Billie Jean King Cup, which will be held from November 7 to 12 at a location yet to be confirmed. After this Saturday’s match, the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) paid tribute on the Manolo Santana court to the players who have represented Spain during their 50 years of participation in the Federation Cup.
