New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Devon Conway crossed 1,000 Test runs on Tuesday, becoming the first New Zealand batsman to do so. Conway achieved the feat during New Zealand’s first Test against Pakistan in Karachi. At the end of day one, Conway was unbeaten on 82 off 156 balls, including 12 fours. His Test record includes crossing 1,000 runs in 11 Tests in 19 innings at an average of 55.55. He scored a total of three centuries and five fifties. His best score in a Test match was 200.

He has broken the record of former New Zealander John Reid who crossed 1000 runs in 20 innings. England player Herbert Sutcliffe holds the record of being the player who has crossed 1000 runs in Test format. He achieved this feat in 1925 against Australia in 12 innings. In the Karachi Test, New Zealand were 165/0 at the end of the second day with Conway (82*) and Tom Latham (78*) not out.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam (161), Agha Salman (103) and Sarbaraz Ahmed (86) shone in the batting. Tim Southee (3/69) was amazing in bowling as New Zealand bowlers. Ajaz Patel, Ish Sodhi and Michael Bracewell also took two wickets.
