The rumors have come up again and again, but this time there might really be something to it: In 2025, a reunion of Oasis is said to be planned, 16 years after their last live performance.
This is reported by the “Sunday Times,” which, unlike the British tabloid press, is not known for fueling speculation. According to “industry insiders,” Noel and Liam Gallagher are said to be certain to share a stage together for the first time since the V Festival in Stafford on August 22, 2009.
Concerts are being considered at Heaton Park and Wembley Stadium – a total of ten concerts. There is (still) no talk of a tour, let alone performances in Germany.
Liam Gallagher himself fueled the rumors. After the publication of the “Times” article, he responded on X to a user who had replied to a tweet from the “Sunday Times”: “See you at the front.”
Glastonbury too?
There are also rumors that a gig as a headliner at the Glastonbury Festival is planned. There would definitely be a significant occasion: in 2025, their second album “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” will celebrate its 30th anniversary.
In a clip from the record label released on Thursday (August 23) to mark the 30th anniversary of their debut album “Definitely Maybe,” Noel spoke unusually positively about Liam. “When I sang a song, it sounded good. When he sang it, it sounded great,” Noel said about his younger brother. He continued: “I can’t sing ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol,’ ‘Rock’n’Roll Star,’ and all that. I don’t have the same attitude as him. My voice is like half a Guinness on a Tuesday – it’s okay. Liam’s voice is ten shots of tequila on a Friday.”
Speculations also abound about the lineup of a possible reunion band. Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs seems sure to be involved, as he has also toured with Liam. However, whether original drummer Tony McCarroll and original bassist Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan will also be part of it remains uncertain.
