Both the former president and the former first lady gave acclaimed speeches on stage at the United Center in Chicago, speaking of hope. And Barack Obama returned to using his iconic campaign slogan to promote his vice presidential candidate.

Tuesday the Obamas have set the second day of the Democratic National Convention alight. The former presidential couple won over the tens of thousands packed into Chicago’s United Center with two speeches focused on the concept of hope.
Michelle and Barack, taking the stage one after the other, contrasted the United States of Kamala Harris – optimistic, diverse, plural, open, compassionate – with the dark, divided and hate-filled United States of Donald Trump.
“Yes she can”said the former president, dedicating to the vice-presidential candidate the iconic slogan that led him to victory in 2008immediately adopted by the crowd.
“We are ready for President Kamala Harris. She is someone who has spent her life fighting for people who need a voice,” Obama stressed to applause.We don’t need another four years of chaos“, he then said attacking Trump. “We’ve seen that movie and the sequel is usually worse“, he pressed.
Michelle Obama’s speech was acclaimed as much if not more than her husband’s. “Something magical is happening not only in this stadium but outside of here. Hope is returning“, the former first lady said, calling Harris “my girl.”
“She is more than ready to become president. He is one of the most qualified and experienced people who ran for president and is the one who has the most dignity,” she stressed. She also did not spare attacks on the Republican candidate. “Who tells him that the job he wants now is a ‘job for blacks,'” she said, recalling the racist phrases of the former president.
Michele Obama spoke of hope, yes, but He also called on Democrats to take action, to get Harris electeddefending the candidate from Republican attacks. “This is not the time to sit back and complain, but to take action. Before the Obamas it was Doug Emhoff took the stageil second gentlemana title given to him as the husband of the US vice president. “Kamala is a joyful warrior. She is doing for her country what she has always done for the people she loves. Her passion will benefit all of us when she is our president,” said the man who could also become the first first gentleman in US history.
