We focus on a disease that is often not seen socially as such: obesity, considered by many to be the epidemic of the 21st century even though the resources allocated to primary care are clearly insufficient despite the other associated pathologies. The journalist Mònica Bernabé has spoken to many witnesses who explain her case, such as Alicia, a 25-year-old girl who has been dieting and exercising all her life, but who nevertheless suffers from morbid obesity. “We’re not like this because we like it,” she says. To claim more resources for their cases, she and other people have allowed themselves to be photographed by the ARA because they do not want to continue to be blamed, but to be helped. The health system does not cover the great demand for surgery or treatment.
